Healing Heartbreak
Moving On 101
How do you do it? Where do you start?
Everyone always says, “It takes time.” Well, how much time? What do you do in the meantime?
I surely do not have all the answers, but I do know what is most important:
P O U R I N T O Y O U R S E L F
Pouring into yourself with self-love, self-discovery, self-growth, and self-development can be difficult to do. Especially if you are the type of person who is used to pouring into others or are coming out of a relationship that was unbalanced.
I feel as though I have gained wisdom, strength, courage, and have grown into my own skin over the past few months of healing from my heartbreak.
H E R E I S H O W I H E A L E D :
- Lean on friends
- There is a time when they will lean on you, but it is okay to temporarily lean on them.
- Let their energy feed your soul. Do not merely use them to listen.
- It isn’t good to spend too much time alone.
- Family first
- Spend more time with family than you have in years past.
- Family will always be there, even if they aren’t perfect.
- Family can help re-center you.
- Adopt a pet
- If you don’t already have one! R E S C U E .
- Instant unconditional love both ways. To love & be loved.
- Preferably a dog for cuddling… but a fish, kitten, or turtle will suffice.
- When you have to take care of an animal, you have to take care of yourself.
- Animals need a schedule for feeding & walking… your pet’s schedule also a good schedule for you.
- Process
- Journal via diary, thoughts. Feel it, write it, then let it go.
- Guided journals! My favorites are:
- Religion
- Believe in something bigger than yourself.
- Regardless of what your beliefs or denomination, re-center on a higher power.
- Another support system through your religious community.
- Redecorate
- New bedding & bath towels- are a must!
- Paint- to bring new vibes/energy into your environment.
- Items that represent you!
- Declutter: giveaway the favorite shirt or shoes that your ex loved or gave you. You don’t need physical reminders. For anything you get rid of, reward yourself and replace it with something new for yourself.
- Beauty
- P A M P E R yourself.
- Haircut and/or color (doesn’t need to be dramatic)
- Get your nails done!
- Buy some new clothes & new makeup!
- Feel beautiful, because you are. You are worth it.
- Get a subscription box
- Then, you don’t have to remember to treat yourself, it just shows up at your front door.
- A scheduled surprise! My favorites:
- FabFitFun
- Dog Mom Box
- Lunarly
- Scout & Cellar Wine Club
- Succulent Studios
- Start Your Own Business
- Network marketing businesses are booming. Do your research, find the right company for you and then work for yourself. I started by joining Arbonne, which I have officially been an independent consultant for a year! Then, I expanded my network and joined two additional companies: Green Compass and Scout & Cellar.
- I love these companies because their values align with mine. That may not mean that they are the best fit for you, which is where your research comes into play. Compare the companies Success Plan to others before joining.
- When you join a team, you join a team.
- The team will rally behind you!
- Another support system added to your life.
- Professional development = personal growth.
- Self-motivation & learn to rely on yourself.
- Gives you an outlet to focus your time and energy on (instead of focusing on a loss or the heartbreak).
- Financial health improves therefore mental health improves.
- Off-set some of the pouring into yourself costs listed throughout the article, HA!
- Nothing to lose… except maybe some social media followers, which they were probably toxic anyways.
